We arrived in New York to very moderate weather thank god... would have been a bit of a shock arriving in 4 feet of snow (but good for filming!!)
Paul and I did our first walkabout on the streets yesterday strolling through from the Lower East Side to 14th Street. Both people we chatted to had first-hand experience with crack.
The first person, Big-Nugz, is an unsigned musician and aspiring actor whose aunt is addicted to crack. We bought his album (kind of R'nB/ hip hop) and got his permission to use some of his music in the film. Good connection!!
The next person we chatted to was a crack addict - although he thinks he has his habit under control... not exactly as you can imagine. He took us up to Harlem where he showed us that Paul's vision is something that will be easy to capture.
Americans are MADE for film.
